Hundreds rally against high cost of housing in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – People in Vancouver are joining their voices together demanding more affordable housing.
A couple hundred people attended a rally today calling on all levels of government to fix the problem.
People are upset, some saying their families have been separated because younger generations can’t afford to live in the city. Others say they’d like to own their own place, but don’t have a million dollars laying around.
Liam, who lives downtown, says he is scraping by every week just to live in Vancouver — where he grew up.
“Ninety-five per cent of my money that I make goes to just living. How am I supposed to afford anything when I can’t even afford to pay for my basic needs.”
Tracie, who lives in False Creek, says it’s time for Mayor Gregor Robertson to listen up. “Take us seriously, actually. Because so far, you’ve done nothing except flip your house for 200-grand and have the condo king write your scripts.”
