Expect smoke over the weekend; water restrictions will remain in place

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Despite cooler and wetter weather expected over the weekend, many restrictions will still be in place throughout the province.

An air quality advisory continues for the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver and Sea to Sky. Campfire bans also remain for much of the province.

“We are still expecting today and tomorrow to be pretty dynamic from a weather perspective. Potentially seeing some lightening in there in some areas. Particularly the Cariboo, Kamloops and South East fire centres and so it would be a question of whether that lightning comes with any precipitation,” explains Provincial Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek.

Water restrictions still stand as well, with the City of Vancouver planning to crack down on over-users. While it normally hands out about 800 warnings a year, it has already given out more than that.
