METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – This weekend’s rain wasn’t much help in filling up our reservoirs.
Metro Vancouver is looking for other places to grab water from as the drought-like conditions continue.
There are three lakes in our reservoir system that we can tap into and the regional district’s chair, Greg Moore, says that’s what we’re doing now.
“We started on one of the lakes and we’ll draw that down about halfway, which will help us keep our reservoir levels where they area. But if we don’t see… a decrease in the water consumption or an increase in rain, then we’ll have to draw on one of the other water reservoirs, as well,” he explains.
“This is actually the first time we’ve had to do this in a few years,” adds Moore.
We’re using about 1.4-billion litres of water a day in the region, which is better than last week.
Stage Two water restrictions started about 10 days ago, which limits watering lawns to once a week.
