Tourism Whistler expecting a busy long weekend

WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) – The low loonie is expected to keep a lot of us closer to home this long weekend.

There’s been a boost in bookings for hotel stays in Whistler.

“Whistler just recorded the best June on record for the resort, in terms of room nights, up significantly over last year,” says Patricia Westerholm with Tourism Whistler.

“We certainly know that the strong US dollar is definitely incentive for our American visitors. Then, of course, the other side of that is Canadians tend to not travel outside of Canada as much when our dollar doesn’t go as far. It’s a sort of double win for Whistler,” she adds.

Westerholm also credits the great weather and free concerts with the boost in business.
