Polls show Conservatives pulling ahead despite wildcard voters

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) – A pair of new polls show the Conservative Party is pulling ahead in the federal election campaign, although uncommitted voters are still a wild card in the race.

Both Forum Research and the Angus Reid Institute have released polls showing the Conservatives are now standing at 34 per cent with the Liberals and NDP in a virtual tie for second place hovering around 27 points.

Many voters seem to be switching from orange to blue especially in Quebec and eastern Ontario where the niqab ban has been a hot political issue.

Shachi Kurl, senior vice president of the Angus Reid Institute says there are a lot of people who haven’t made a choice. “You do see a very high level of undecided, purely undecided voters, even at this stage in the campaign, nearly 17 per cent say they aren’t sure, or can’t say.”

Kurl says even more say they are willing to change their vote, which means we could see a big swing in support as we get closer to election day.
