VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Stephen Harper was in Vancouver today, trying to win over Chinese voters.

“The Conservative party has more candidates of Chinese origin than any other party.” Harper went on to say despite the signing of the TPP, a free trade deal with China likely won’t come any time soon.

OMNI TV’s Guo Ding tells NEWS 1130 the Conservative leader also touched on his plan to monitor foreign buyers during the news conference in East Vancouver.

“He said no, you know we have to get the data first and if this is a serious problem then he will talk with the provincial government and municipal government to talk about some ways to deal with that.”

Reporters from mainstream outlets who turned up at the news conference were not allowed into the event, which was only open to the region’s ethnic media.
