CALGARY (NEWS 1130) – The Conservative party needs a new leader and a new look.
Colin Craig is with the Manning Centre. He says much of the party’s fate lies in a new leader and what tone they will set.
“It could be something as simple as refreshing the logo or something more extensive such as taking the party in a different direction in terms of policy. So we’ll have to wait and see what the new leader decides.”
Though the party has never had a leader not named Stephen Harper, Craig says there doesn’t seem to be a split between the reformers and the more progressive in the party.
“It doesn’t seem to be happening. No, I think people realize that Conservatives have staked their footing on being the centre-right voice for Canadians.”
He believes the first thing the party needs to do is figure out what went right and what went wrong during the federal campaign.
