BCIT student journalists suspended from newspaper after posting internal email

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – BCIT‘s Student Association is being accused of trying to silence a couple of journalists-in-training.

Jessica Fedigan says the publisher of the “Link” newspaper told her to focus on positive news stories and downplay a recent incident involving an accused peeping tom on campus.

The broadcast journalism student says she was forced to attend a meeting, where she was told she was suspended from the paper.

“They just said that once our internal investigation is complete… they didn’t even they would let us know of an outcome.”

Chieh-Sen Yang has been charged with secretly recording nudity in private place and will be back in court February 23rd.

We have asked the Student Association for comment, but have not received a response.
