WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) – It’s a 200-year history of BC art under one spectacular new roof.

The stunning Patkau Architects-designed building next to the village contains a permanent collection of works from home-builder and philanthropist Michael Audain and his wife Yoshiko Karasawa.
Executive Director Suzanne Greening says the collection ranges from pre-European contacts – First Nations art – right up to contemporary.
“There are about 183 pieces in the collection that up until now has been a private collection, not readily seen,” she says.
It’s a “who’s who” of legendary local artists including Jack Shadbolt, EJ Hughes and Emily Carr.
The Audain Art Museum also showcases the works of Vancouver photo-conceptualists including Stan Douglas, Jeff Wall and Ian Wallace.
