Dana Larsen charged, released from jail

CALGARY, AB. (NEWS 1130) – Pot activist Dana Larsen has been released from a jail in Calgary, but he’s been charged with trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was arrested at a pro-legalization rally last night where he admits he was offering marijuana seeds.

“They held me overnight. I’ve got a $1,000 bail. I’ve got conditions that I can’t possess cannabis or cannabis seeds, except in my dispensary in Vancouver where I work selling marijuana every day to people. I’m allowed to keep doing that, so that’s a little odd.”

“They said they want to seek a mandatory minimum sentence on me, so they’re looking for six months or more behind bars for giving away cannabis seeds. The last time someone was convicted of selling cannabis seeds in Canada, they got a $500 fine.”

There is another pro-pot rally tonight in Edmonton, but Larsen says he will not be selling seeds there to avoid getting arrested again.

The move prompted rally-goers last night to chant “shame” at police as they took Larsen away.
