Potential buyers angry about Burnaby apartment sale lottery

By

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – It was a deal too good to pass up for people in Burnaby looking to enter the housing market. Concord Pacific was offering to reduce the down payment of a $500,000 apartment to 15 per cent and pay half the first year’s mortgage at Concord Brentwood.

Cindy says she was told the first 60 people would be given the deal, but now they are being turned away and told they will be put into a lottery tomorrow.

“So the real estate agent basically said ‘come early and line up to ensure you are in line for the first 50 or 60 spots,'” she explains. “A lot of people lined up overnight. We stayed here for at least 4 hours and now they have changed their tune. They are not honouring that. They say they are taking the names of everybody in line and putting them in a lottery for tomorrow morning.”

NEWS 1130 is still waiting to hear back from Concord Pacific.
