VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A new website is being launched as a hub for people seeking mental health advice.
MindHealthBC.com is meant to bring people together to find information about mental health issues.
Dr Lakshmi Yatham is the regional head of psychiatry at Vancouver Coastal Health.
He says there are a few things people can do on the site. “They can complete the screening tool which might give them a preliminary assessment of what they are experiencing and if it’s something that requires medical attention.”
He says the site can also help people with depression and anxiety use coach assisted cognitive behavioural therapy.
He believes having one credible source for this information will really help everyone in BC dealing with mental health issues
“It provides links to other sites within the province and elsewhere that are pre-screened. So that the information available on those sites also is credible.”
