PNE kicks off another year

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Where else can you grab a 10-pound mac n’ cheese-stuffed burger on your way to see Steve Millar?

The Fair at the Pacific National Exhibition is underway once again down at Hastings Park and some people waited at the gates for over two hours this morning for a head-start on the fun.

So what keeps the crowds coming back to the PNE year after year?

Shannon Johnston tells NEWS 1130 it’s a fun family tradition. “We started bringing her when she was three and a half months old, so we just figure we want to keep it going for her.”

Ken Keir appreciates the sense of tradition. He says this is his 60th straight PNE. “It’s just an iconic Vancouver event right, it has been a great thing for my whole life.”

The fair runs until September 5th but the gates will be closed on Monday and the Monday after that.
