VANCOUVER(NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver-based Coast Hotels chain has just been bought up by the largest hotel company in Japan in a $210-million dollar deal.
Coast Hotels may be headquartered in Vancouver but it’s been owned by Japan’s Okabe Co. for the last two decades.
This aquisition by the APA Hotel Group involves 38 locations in western North America.
There are three in Metro Vancouver including the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel downtown.
If you’re a regular guest at those hotels, Sarah Kirby-Yung with Coast says you’re going to notice some changes.
“Everything from slippers in the room to environmentally conscious hotels. There’s also a focus on eco-friendliness along with special washroom amenities.”
Kirby-Yung says APA is expecting to base its North American operations in Vancouver.
As far as room rates changing, she says Coast provides pretty strong value now.
“APA shares that philosophy so we value our customers and will continue to provide great pricing to them.”
