Problem on SkyTrain track cleared, major delays during morning commute

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – TransLink says service is back to normal after an earlier issue on the track caused some major headaches for commuters this morning.

TransLink says a grinder derailed at about 3:40 a.m. between Joyce and Patterson Stations during routine maintenance work on the track. The derailment actually damaged a switch mechanism. “We have a normal process where we get people to collect all the information and give statements. My head of engineering and my head of operations are both working on the debrief and the investigation. We really need to give them enough time to find out what happened,” says President of BC Rapid Transit Company Vivienne King.

There are no plans at this stage for compensation for customers.
