GoFundMe page set up for teen killed during wind storm

SURREY (NEWS1130) – A GoFundMe page has now been set up after the death of a teenager in Surrey yesterday afternoon.

Sixteen-year-old Shakir Salaam died after a tree fell on him in a public park near Clayton Heights Secondary School shortly after school got out.

The organizer of the page says it was setup to help his family with the cost of a funeral as well as any counselling services.

Friends, family, school officials and the community is mourning the tragic loss of the teen’s life, and they are calling on other schools who support rugby teams to contribute to the page. Salaam played for the secondary school’s rugby team.

Any financial support would go to helping with funeral costs, meals for the family, and help during their grieving process.

You can find a link to the page here.
