Surrey Mountie charged after viral Creep Catchers video

By

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A charge of child luring has been formally approved against Surrey RCMP Constable Dario Devic after that Creep Catchers video went viral in early September.

The BC Criminal Justice Branch believes Devic was communicating with someone under the age of 16 for facilitating sexual conduct. The branch says his conduct is believed to have taken place between August 29, 2016 and September 7th, 2016 in or near Surrey.

“After a full review of all the available evidence, the branch has concluded the charge of Breach of Trust by a Public Officer does not meet the branch’s charge assessment standard. As such, a replacement… has been laid and Cst. Devic is now charged with one count of luring a child,” explains Crown Counsel’s Dan McLaughlin.

The charge was sworn in this morning. Devic’s next court appearance is tomorrow in Surrey Provincial Court.

Creep Catchers impersonate young people online who later attempt to meet and confront child predators.
