Fatal crash in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Police in Abbotsford are investigating a deadly crash at Old Yale Road and Essendene Avenue.
Just before noon today a motorcycle heading east crossed the centre line into the path of a truck going west.
The male motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital with very serious injuries. He was pronounced dead, shortly upon arrival.
Abbotsford Police Constable Ian MacDonald says it doesn’t appear weather played a role.
“It was light rain, but certainly no fog. This is in the downtown core of Abbotsford, so we’re talking about four lanes of traffic moving in both directions,” says MacDonald.
“We’re not sure if the motorcycle slid due to lack of traction, or perhaps he over steered. Nonetheless, that right turn appears to have brought him right into the path of the west bound pick up truck.”
The man and woman in the pick-up were shaken but not hurt.
