Canucks and Jets clash for the second time this week

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks wrap up a two-game set against the Jets tonight at Rogers Arena. Vancouver earned a win over Winnipeg on Tuesday. Defenceman Troy Stecher expects their Canadian foes will want some revenge.

“They will want to get a split against us so they will be pretty motivated. At first we will need to be composed and match their intensity. When we get our opportunity we will need to attack on the offense. It is going to be a game of chances. There is going to be swings of high’s and low’s, but as long as we stay composed I think we will be fine.”

Ryan Miller gets the start in net, even though Jacob Markstrom looked very good in Tuesday’s win. Coach Willie Desjardins explains his reasoning.

“For me it is more rest on what I want out of each guy. We said at the start of the year Miller is our number one. Markstrom has played great this year though. Miller had a good game and then Markstrom came in a played great too. We put Markstrom in because we have confidence in him. I believe he can play well. For tonight’s game it is Miller’s turn to go, so he is up.”

The Canucks earned the win earlier this week despite being outplayed in the first period. Stecher says Vancouver can’t get behind early, but if they do, they can’t panic.

“Obviously you start with the lead. You go in to every game trying to win and to do that you have to score more then the other team. It shows the character we have in this room and the heart that we aren’t going to lay down and we will continue to fight and find a way.”

The puck drops at 7 p.m. and you can watch the game on Sportsnet Vancouver and we’ll have updates in NEWS 1130 Sports at :15 and :45 past the hour.
