VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Friends, family and supporters will rally today in front of the Vancouver Police Department headquarters on Cambie Street after two officers were cleared of any wrongdoing in the death of a man in 2014.
Tony Du, who suffered from schizophrenia, was carrying a two-by-four on Knight Street and 41st Ave when officers first shot him with bean bags and then shot and killed him.
Family members say Du was not violent and police need better training.
The rally today starts at noon.
