Vancouver’s new logo to get a redo

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s been called everything from bland to unoriginal to even infuriating.

Now, the city’s controversial new $8,000 logo appears to be a no-go.

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson says staff and council have heard the concerns and will be meeting with the graphic design community to make some further improvements.

“A significant number of design professionals weighed-in and said ‘we’d like to be more involved in the process and we think more is possible.’ I think it’s worth exploring that.”

New public consultations will also be happening.

He says the city has to have a better wordmark and logo because the old one doesn’t work in digital applications.

Robertson would like to see the new logo rolled out in the next couple of months.

He adds you definitely can’t please everyone.

“No matter what, some people might not like what we end up with in the end.”
