The Whitecaps road trip continues in Colorado this evening

COLORADO (NEWS 1130) – The Whitecaps are in Colorado to face the Rapids this evening. It is game three of a four game road trip that has seen Vancouver come away with some favourable results. Last weekend the Caps picked up their first road win of the season and they will look for more of the same tonight.

Vancouver’s recent success could be attributed to Coach Carl Robinson introduction of a new playing system that uses a 4-1-4-1 formation. He says he won’t be messing with a good thing tonight.

“The last couple of games we have played this way and it was pretty simple. They have done it very well and it is working at the moment. We are playing some good soccer. We are not scoring as many goals as I would like, but we will probably continue it.”

The Caps will be looking to change their recent history in Commerce City, where they have lost six straight matches to the Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Keeper David Ousted admits there are several factors for Vancouver’s struggles in Colorado.

“It is a tough place to play. The Rapids have made it a tough place to play. We have to adjust to the altitude, figuring out how to set the press and not dying out in the first twenty minutes if we do decide to press. It is a mentality thing. We have to believe we can go in there and win.”

Defender Jordan Harvey will be suiting up in his 250th regular season game in the MLS. The 33-year old says it’s a pretty special moment in his career.

“Every game holds a lot of meaning, but obviously when it is a bit of a milestone number it gets a little bit of attention. I am happy to have played in Vancouver for the majority of them.”

It is the first meeting of the season between the two teams. Colorado has struggled out of the gate with only one win in its first seven games.

The opening kick off is set for 7 p.m.
