Coquihalla Highway delays over summer

By

HOPE (NEWS 1130) – Motorists travelling the Coquihalla Highway over summer are advised to expect delays, as two major road and bridge construction projects get underway between Hope and Merritt.

Crews will be resurfacing four lanes of the Dry Gulch Bridge south of Merritt. 30 kilometres north of Hope, the work to build the Box Canyon chain-up area continues. Both projects will intermittently reduce traffic down to one lane in each direction.

The work is expected to finish in the fall.

The Ministry of Transportation says motorists should consider alternative routes or travel outside peak travel times.

Although there won’t be active construction during the Victoria Day long weekend, motorists can expect minor travel delays due to the higher volumes of traffic that traditionally occur on this holiday weekend.
