Horgan focused on ‘making life more affordable’ for British Columbians

PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) – Premier-designate John Horgan has celebrated Canada Day in Port Moody and Surrey, saying he’s focused on what matters most to the province he’ll soon govern.

Horgan describes the days the weeks since the election as a roller coaster ride, but says he’s excited about getting to work on the NDP’s priorities for British Columbia.

“Make life more affordable, make sure services are there when you need them. And keep the economy going and make sure it works for everybody, not just a select few.”

He says the process of selecting his cabinet has already begun.

“I expect to get back to work Monday morning and start making my plans for putting in place a government so we can finally get some things done for people.”

Horgan says he’s spoken with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about the softwood lumber agreement, the opioid crisis and childcare.

The NDP is set to form government and John Horgan will become BC’s 36th premier, after Christy Clark’s Liberals fell in a non-confidence vote on Thursday afternoon.
