BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — It’s been two weeks since a 13-year-old girl’s body was found among the brush in a popular park in Burnaby.

Investigators say the attack on the girl was random and her killer hasn’t been caught, so they’re warning people to stay vigilant.

Corporal Meghan Foster with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the investigation is advancing.

“I she can’t speak to much of the evidence, as before, our message remains status quo,” Foster says.

“Homicide investigations are unpredictable Updates could come at any time provided they’re appropriate for the public to know.”

Marissa’s family reported her missing around 11 p.m., July 18 — Mounties discovered her body in Central Park a couple of hours later.

Last week, investigators confirmed the murder was most likely a stranger attack and they asked the public to be careful because the killer might strike again.
