Victim killed in Surrey shooting has been shot before: IHIT

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Homicide investigators have confirmed the man gunned down in a Cloverdale driveway last night had been shot before in a gang-related incident.

Back in 2015, a then 20-year-old Pardeep Singh was identified as one of five men involved in shootings tied to low-level drug crime. He was shot but survived.

IHIT’s Cpl. Meghan Foster says he didn’t cooperate with police.

“And we engaged with him to offer assistance and also provide a ‘duty-to-warn’ notification to him that his life may be in danger.”

Singh was shot and killed in a car in the driveway of a Cloverdale home shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 64th Avenue and 166th Street.

People around the quiet neighbourhood report hearing several gunshots and a car racing away around that time. Police say they’re now looking for a vehicle that may be associated.

“That’s the scary part, it’s right beside me,” says Ryan who just moved into the neighbourhood. “I heard seven or eight gunshots go off. I was very surprised. I didn’t know what it was at first, then I ran outside and saw the whole neighbourhood lit up with cops.”

Investigators are now looking for a light coloured minivan which was seen leaving that area shortly after shots were fired.

Though the investigation is in its early stages, police believe this shooting to be targeted.
