One dead after triple stabbing in Burnaby

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – One man is dead after a stabbing in Burnaby overnight.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. in the area of Kingsway and Royal Oak Avenue.

“Upon police attendance, three victims were located, suffering from stab wounds. Two of the victims received non-life threatening injuries, while the third victim succumbed to their injuries,” says Corporal Daniela Panesar.

This morning, police were still at the scene, focusing their investigation on Oyama Sushi, which is located in a converted stone heritage house.

A man was arrested, with a clerk at a nearby convenience store confirming to NEWS 1130 he was taken into custody inside the store around midnight.

Police do not think this was a targeted attack. However, they add public safety is not a concern.

Kingsway was closed west of Royal Oak for hours overnight; it re-opened before 5:30 a.m. today.
