NEWS 1130 Worst Commute winner spends two hours on the road to get home

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The latest winner in our Vancouver’s Worst Commute contest says getting home from work is like living in a hamster wheel.

Theresa Snyders says her trip home to Maple Ridge from downtown Vancouver takes two hours — twice as long as her drive into the city — no matter what she tries.

“Nothing works at all. Nothing works. Everything’s backed up. Everyone’s distracted. It’s just crazy. Everyone’s doing the same thing; everyone’s trying to find a way to get out of traffic.”

Theresa says she’s tried everything short of taking a helicopter to dodge the traffic. She adds the worst part is seeing the number of people who aren’t paying attention to the road.

“I look over and notice a huge gap between two vehicles; you look at the driver and they’re on their phone. It happens 80 per cent of the time, easily,” she tells us.

“I’m consistently honking my horn. One time, someone actually confronted me and she’s like, ‘I’m parked!’ I’m like, ‘What? You’re not parked. You’re operating your vehicle. You’re in traffic!”

Theresa wins $500 from our friends and Fraser Valley Alfa Romeo.
