VPD looks into potential link between shots fired, stolen car

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police are turning to the public for help in an attempt to solve a case that happened back in August.

They need information about a silver Honda Civic, they say, was stolen and likely used in a drive-by shooting on August 29th. Just after 11:30 p.m., officers were called in after receiving 911 calls of shots being fired in the area of Rupert Street and Grandview Highway in East Vancouver.

When officers got there, they were able to confirm it was a targeted hit but that no one was hurt. Shortly after the initial call, police then received a call about an older model, two-door sliver Honda Civic with front-end damage driving west on Highway 1 onto the Hastings Street exit.

“Based on the obvious damage, we are confident that someone will remember seeing this vehicle,” explains Constable Jason Doucette. “We would like to hear from additional witnesses who may have seen this car being driven, or people walking away from it. Please take a look at the photo of this car and call us with any information.”

Anyone with information about the car or who was in it is asked to call the VPD at 604.717.3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS.
