VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A high-risk sex offender has been arrested by Vancouver Police after not returning to his halfway house late last month.

“He was not committing additional offences when he was apprehended. Investigators will be looking into his whereabouts since October 26th when the Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest,” says Constable Jason Doucette in a statement.

Police had issued a Canada-wide warrant for Christopher Schafer on October 26th.

The 40-year-old has a long criminal history that includes break-and-enter, sexual offences, uttering threats, robbery, and assaulting a peace officer. He has had his community release revoked several times.

Schafer previously went missing back in July of this year, in December of 2016 and once in 2010.
