Homeless Vancouver actor documents journey

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Vancouver man has started a blog to document his journey as a homeless actor in our city, drawing attention to the struggles of those trying to break into the industry.

Ayaleh Bogoreh’s blog chronicles the day-to-day life of a homeless actor, including napping at Tim Hortons, having his phone stolen and playing basketball.

He says he hasn’t been working because he wants to be able to attend auditions and pursue acting 100 per cent, instead of having to schedule his acting dream around another job.

“This is what I’ve chosen and this is what I want to do. I know it’s going to be very hard for many people to understand but it will all make sense at the end.”

“Yes, I am homeless but at the end of the day I’m not doing this because I have pity on myself, I have mercy on myself. I’m doing this because this is the lifestyle that I want to… I either want to live the lifestyle like this, or I want to make it very successful.”

Bogoreh says because he’s technically homeless by choice, he hasn’t been using any of the homelessness services provided by the City of Vancouver and charities.
