DELTA (NEWS 1130) – A train derailment has been causing some problems for people trying to get in or out of the Deltaport terminal.
Global Container Terminals confirms they are looking into an incident where a train came off the tracks and hit a light pole.
In a statement, the company says GCT Deltaport is fully operational despite the derailment.
“Any outages will be communicated via our email update system. We are actively supporting BC Hydro and BC Rail through the incident.”
Callers to NEWS 1130 say the pole is hanging precariously over the right-hand lanes as you’re heading out to the port, but the roads have all been blocked off to keep everyone away.
We’re hearing about 100 cars were stuck one way but have started to move by detouring over the rail tracks.
