Body of missing Surrey teen found in the trunk of a car in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – An update to the case of a missing Surrey teen who hadn’t been seen in a week. Vancouver Police say the 18-year-old was found dead in the trunk of a car in East Vancouver on Thursday just after 3 p.m.

It’s still really early in the investigation but officers say Sachdeep Singh Dhoot was known to police.

Members discovered Dhoot in the trunk of a stolen car around Fairmont Street and Vanness Avenue. “We are liaising with our partner agencies, obviously Surrey in this instance. We are going to collect as much information as we can and try to create a timeline and just move forward to identify those responsible,” explains VPD Constable Jason Doucette.

Dhoot’s death marks Vancouver’s third homicide of the month. “As far as [Dhoot’s] relationship to that vehicle, whether or not it was his, how he was associated to it, that’s important information and we are working to confirm that and to piece that into our investigation.

Doucette points out the teen’s death looks to be a targeted hit. “Our investigators have looked at the basic information that we’ve been able to uncover and what was located at the scene, how it everything is coming together at this point and it does not appear to be random.”

The Vancouver Police Major Crime Section is leading this investigation and anyone with any information about the killing is asked to call them at 604.717.2500 or through Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477.
