Major parking changes take effect at Vancouver International Airport

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Make sure to give yourself some extra time if you plan to leave your car at Vancouver International Airport before catching a flight.

As we told you earlier this week, big parking changes start at YVR today.

The Value Lot is now closed while the airport builds a new six-level parkade and car rental facility.

“The new Value Long Term lot will be YVR’s most economical choice for parkers with the lowest price per day with both drive up and reservation price points,” reads a release.

With construction underway, you’ll still be able to park in the long-term lot that has been built near the new McArthur Glen outlet mall, with free shuttle service on the Canada Line. That lot will remain open when the new facility is complete.

When transit services are down, the shuttle service will run every 30 minutes.

In addition, you’ll also have the option of parking in the JetSet parking lot, which is also near the airport’s “cell phone waiting area.”

YVR recommends reviewing its parking site before you head out the door, consider booking ahead to take advantage of savings, check train schedules, and of course know where to go.

The new facility is slated to open in 2021. Once complete, there will be substantially more parking options for passengers, according to airport staff.
