VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Congratulations to our Unsung Hero, Patricia Mauch. She was nominated for the award by Doreen Braverman. Take a look at her story.
Pat is a former social worker. Her husband has Parkinson’s disease. She has been accompanying him to the Parkinson’s support group for several years. Our group leader, also who had Parkinson’s, lived in West Vancouver. He could not handle the duty every week, so Pat took over the entire responsibility.
She contacts the group at least once a week; she has organized new exercise leaders, has recruited new people to keep track of members and prepare refreshments for the group. With her social work connections she is constantly sending out information to the group on new information to make their lives more comfortable and help them live healthier lives.
In this past year she has come from being an accompanier to the group for her husband to a full-fledged organizer for thirty-plus Parkinson’s sufferers.
Alpine Credits is acknowledging Patricia with $500 to say thanks for stepping up and they’re also making a $1,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charity.
