Fire ‘seriously damages’ Chilliwack playground

CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) – A play area for children in Chilliwack has been seriously damaged after crews believed it was intentionally set on fire.

According to a release, the Chilliwack Fire Department was called out to the outdoor playground in Emerald Park at around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The fire was “brought under control” quickly, and firefighters say no one was hurt.

Crews now believe the fire was deliberately set, but few other details are being provided at this time.

An investigation is being conducted by both the Chilliwack Fire Department as well as the RCMP.
