Man asks child to get into his car outside Surrey elementary school

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Surrey are warning the public after a man asked a child to get into his car earlier this week.
It happened at around 1 p.m. on Monday outside Frost Road Elementary School on 162 Street. The child did not get into the car and ran away to safety.
Police say this incident is a good example of why it’s important to talk to kids about personal safety. Here are their tips:
- Not taking shortcuts
- Walking with friends
- Telling someone where they are going and when they will be back
- Phoning home when leaving a friend’s house and saying when they will be home
- Not helping strangers
- Trusting instincts and feelings
- Phoning if you are going to be late or your plans change
In regards to Monday’s incident, The suspect is described as a South Asian man in his 40s or younger, with a trimmed beard which had grey patches. He was wearing a blue turban with orange underneath it. He’s said to be driving a grey sedan with tinted windows and a messy interior.
