Washington State dealing with gas price woes

BLAINE (NEWS 1130) – As many of us see dollar signs in our eyes over gas prices, south of the border one US Senator is complaining that prices there are way too high.

The third highest prices in America, according to US Senator from Washington Maria Cantwell. The Democrat says an average price of a $1.17 a litre is intolerable and she blames the recently passed US tax overhaul.

“Gas prices have gone up 25 per cent since the tax law went into effect,” says Cantwell. “So as families are facing three-times higher the cost, these corporations have gotten some of the largest tax breaks in our history.”

She’s joining some other lawmakers in asking US President Donald Trump to pressure OPEC to increase world oil supplies, so prices drop for families this summer driving season

“What they’re seeing could get worse. And that’s why we’re calling on President Trump to act.”

But with Vancouver-area prices hovering around a $1.60 a litre, even expensive gas south of the border is still a good deal.
