Surrey Creep Catcher pleads guilty to assault charges

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – He spends his time trying to catch creeps online, but now the head of a vigilante group has pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, after a pair of stings gone wrong last year.

Surrey Creep Catchers President Ryan Laforge is best known for his brazen takedowns of people he claims have tried to lure children into sexual activity. He’ll now have to deal with his own criminal record for several years.

Laforge has received a conditional discharge and one year’s probation after entering the guilty pleas for the stings in April of 2017.

He was charged with two counts of assault and one for uttering threats for two separate incidents. The first involved a violent altercation with the target of sting near the Central City Shopping Centre that was caught on film. The other man in the film, Kuljinder Singh Bhattiwas, was later charged with child luring.

The second incident also ended in the arrest of fellow SCC member Lance Roy and the target of the sting. Roy got the same conditional release and probation sentence as Laforge has been slapped with. Laforge pledged to do things differently after his arrest last year.

Laforge and his group have come under fire for their tactics, including sometimes aggressive “citizens arrests”.

The police say it’s always best to leave investigations and arrests to the professionals.
