Metro Vancouver water reservoir levels have held up during the heat wave

METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – As the first real heat wave of the season winds down, Metro Vancouver’s reservoirs are right where they should be for this time of year.
“Both the Capilano and the Seymour reservoirs are basically full pool or almost close to — which is good. Coquitlam is down a little bit. Overall, our percentage is about 91 per cent full,” explains Darrell Mussatto, who heads up the region’s utilities committee.
“Our high alpine lakes that we use the middle and late summer to help recharge reservoirs are full, as well,” he adds.
Although things are looking pretty good, Mussatto is still asking people to conserve water wherever they can. He points out another dry spell could be right around the corner.
“We certainly learned from 2015. That was our long dry spell; we had four months without much rain at all. We’re better prepared now.”
Stage 1 water restrictions are in effect in Metro Vancouver. Lawn watering is restricted to certain days and hours.
