ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Police in Abbotsford are still trying to figure out what lead up to a shooting that’s put a man in the hospital and a teenager behind bars.
Sgt. Judy Bird says at first, officers weren’t sure what they were dealing with when they arrived, following a dropped 9-1-1 call around 6:15 p.m. But they quickly discovered a very serious situation at the home on Birch Street near Sumas Way.
“There is a young man who remains in critical condition in hospital today. Shortly after we had a phone call, we tracked down an 18-year-old male. He is currently in police custody.”
She adds this is not believed to be a random incident. “The indication is right now is that these two males know each other.”
Investigators don’t think the shooting is gang-related.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
