ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – It began with a crash involving a motorcycle along Highway 1 in Abbotsford. As that brought the highway to a standstill, another crash involving a motorcycle on a road that snakes right along the highway Friday night turned fatal.
Videographer Kevin Macdonald tells us that a motorcycle was involved in a crash along Highway 1 east near Whatcom Road Friday evening. The driver in that case was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“At the same time [along South Parallel Road], it looks like an SUV was slowing down to look at the crash, and another motorcycle crashed into the back end of that SUV,” Macdonald says.
The driver and a female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, he says.
The passenger was found deceased at the scene, while the driver was taken to hospital with significant injuries.
We’ve reached out to Mission RCMP for more information on the investigation, but there is no official word on a cause at this point.
