Sunday night shooting in Surrey sends man to hospital

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Surrey RCMP is investigating a late night shooting that’s left a 35-year-old man in the hospital.

Sergeant Ed Hryciuk says emergency crews first got a call to 108 Avenue and 139 Street at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, and arrived to find a man shot in the leg.

“The victim was transported to… hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Members are still on the scene conducting their investigation.”

Hryciuk says the suspects already left the scene in an unknown direction before they arrived, and he wouldn’t say what the motive may have been.

Nearby residents had earlier told NEWS 1130 there were at least 12 police cars in the area, and several road closures.

RCMP believe this was a targeted, isolated incident and don’t think there is any risk to the public.
