Swimmer reported missing at Buntzen Lake

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – A swimmer has been reported missing at Buntzen Lake in Coquitlam.

Coquitlam Search and Rescue say they received the call around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The team responded with two boats and 20 crew members.

Throughout the evening, search and rescue crews scoured the water trying to find the man but left before dusk.

RCMP has now taken over the investigation and are treating it as a missing persons case.

Callers to the newsroom said an area of the lake appeared to be closed to the public as crews looked for the missing swimmer.

Three weeks ago, a 16-year-old died after falling over a waterfall at the same lake.
