Lane closures planned for Lions Gate this weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Make sure you give yourself some extra time if you plan to cross the Lions Gate Bridge this weekend.

Crews will be on site removing temporary bridge plates and paved transitions.

Work is expected to take place from 8:00 p.m. Saturday, and last until 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, work is scheduled to take place “when traffic volumes are lowest.”

Lane closures will be in place to allow workers to complete their job. One lane will be open in each direction from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. After that, there will be a single lane open with traffic alternating between the hours of 10:00 p.m. on Saturday to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday when work completes.

You’re asked to try and use alternate routes and crossings, including the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge if you need to get across. “All travellers are reminded to obey signs, and watch for traffic control personnel.”
