LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking into the murder of a little girl in Langley.
Cpl. Frank Jang with IHIT says police first got a call on Sunday night. They attended a home in the condo complex on 68 Ave near 200 St. A 36-year-old woman was transported to the hospital that night, but seven-year-old Aaliyah Rosa was already dead.
“We have reason to believe from what we know of the investigation and what we’ve seen inside the home that this is a homicide investigation,” says Jang.
Jang says the case involved “people who were known to each other”, but won’t say what the cause of death was or if the girl died at the hands of a relative. He says there is currently no suspect.
He also adds they are currently talking to the woman who was hospitalized, her relationship to Aaliyah is still unknown.
“We need to know everything about [Aaliyah’s] life, her friends, her family, what her family situation was like,” says Jang, adding the investigation is far from over. “So if you can contribute to that and you can help us develop that wholesome picture, I urge you to contact IHIT.”
There is no risk to the public as Jang says this was an isolated incident. If anyone has information about Aaliyah Rosa, you’re asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
