Richmond RCMP looking for suspect in June pub brawl

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Richmond are hoping someone will remember or recognize a man who was involved in a fight at a pub two months ago that left a man with serious injuries.

It happened on June 7th in the area of No. 3 and Williams Roads during Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals.

A 57-year-old man from Richmond was apparently hit with a chair by one person and then hit in the face by another. The victim had serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The first suspect was arrested and now faces charges. Alistair Charles Newman, 62, is charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

“Although one suspect was arrested and charged, a second suspect is outstanding,” says Cpl. Dennis Hwang.

The second suspect is described as a heavy-set white man who is bald or balding. He was wearing a green t-shirt, black windbreaker-style jacket, and jeans.

“The suspect is believed to be a regular at this pub. By releasing these security stills, we are hope someone will recognize him,” adds Hwang.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cst. B. Tse at the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212. You can also call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
