White Rock’s rainbow crosswalk vandalized

WHITE ROCK (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in White Rock are looking for someone who vandalized the city’s rainbow crosswalk early Friday morning.

It happened shortly after midnight. The city says hate-related words and symbols were written and drawn across it.

Crews went to the crosswalk at around 6 a.m. to start the clean-up process. The symbols and words were removed by 11 a.m.

“The City is disappointed that such an act has occurred as the message of the rainbow crosswalk is to cultivate kindness, respect, and inclusion,” reads a statement from the city.

Anyone with information is asked to call White Rock RCMP at 778-593-3600.

In late June, City of Surrey crews had to clean up white paint that was splashed over a rainbow crosswalk in that city. RCMP have since determined the vandals did it on purpose.
