Vendor of 2017 Pemberton Music Festival still seeking payment

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – More than a year after the Pemberton Music Festival was cancelled, organizers have been ordered to reimburse the exclusive ticket vendor.

A BC Supreme Court ruling in favour of Ticketfly Canada could be worth nearly $8 million.

What’s not clear is if any of that money will ever be collected.

Shortly after cancelling the three-day festival that was supposed to be headlined by Chance the Rapper in July of last year, organizers filed for bankruptcy and the accounting firm Ernst and Young became the trustee.

Since then, many advance ticket buyers got their money back from credit card companies which, in turn, billed Ticketfly $7.9-million dollars for so-called “chargebacks.”

According to court documents, two attempts to recover that money from the trustee have been rejected.

The judge has now given Ticketfly until the end of this month to provide proof of every refund already paid out in either Canadian or U.S. dollars.

The company is one of the creditors collectively owed $17-million after organizer filed for bankruptcy.
