One man dead following explosion in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – A man is dead after a home explosion in Abbotsford Thursday afternoon.
“Upon arrival, emergency services found an engulfed residence,” says Sgt. Judy Bird. “Six adults and two young children were able to escape this fire but unfortunately an adult male was located deceased.”
The incident took place on Ponderosa Street just before 4:30 p.m.
Bird says the cause of the fire is still unknown.
“We are in the very preliminary stages of this investigation, however, our investigators will be working in partnership with the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service Fire Investigators and hopefully we will be able to give an update with respects to the cause of this fire,” she says.
Bird says they would like to extend their condolences to the family and friends.
